The city’s archbishop will lead a Way of the Cross procession through the streets of Ottawa on Good Friday.
Organizers expect as many as 1,000 people at the annual event led by Archbishop Terrence Prendergast and organized by the Communion and Liberation group.
The procession departs at 9:30 a.m. from Saint Patrick’s Basilica on Nepean Street and over two hours stops at the Supreme Court of Canada, the Peace Tower, the National Gallery of Canada and Notre Dame Cathedral.
The program includes songs in Latin, English, French and Italian performed by the Communion and Liberation choir and readings that consider the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
