A teenager walking in Val-des-Monts was seriously injured Wednesday evening when struck by the side mirror of a vehicle on Route du Carrefour.
The MRC des Collines police said the accident occurred at 6:52 p.m. as the vehicle was driving westbound on the street, a renamed section of Highway 366, about 30 kilometres northeast of downtown Ottawa.
The pedestrian, an 18-year-old male, was walking on the side of the road when struck in the head by the passenger side mirror.
The pedestrian was stabilized at the scene and taken to hospital in Gatineau where he remained in critical condition. A section of du Carrefour was closed while police investigated. Police reported there was no indication that speed or alcohol consumption were factors in the collision.
