Firefighters quickly extinguish overnight blaze at Lowertown seniors' building

Multiple 911 calls went to the fire department Tuesday morning alerting them to a fire on an eighth-floor balcony at a seniors’ apartment building at 160 Charlotte St. in Lowertown.

Firefighters declared a working fire when they arrived just before 4 a.m.

The fire was quickly brought under control.

One elderly woman was assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
