Talk about piling insult onto injury.

Try googling the Ottawa Senators Friday morning after Thursday night’s nail-biting, double-overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, now the Eastern Conference champions.

An online prankster has changed the team’s listed owner to Penguins captain Sidney Crosby on a throw to the team’s Wikipedia page. Click through and the actual page lists businessman Eugene Melnyk

The team isn’t commenting but it’s nothing new.

Wikipedia, the open-source encyclopedia, can be the Wild West of fact-checking.

A check of the Senators’ Wikipedia page indicates the team name was changed, at least briefly, to the “Ottawa Bozos.” The revision was Thursday night at 7:22 p.m. and lasted one minute.

At another point, the Wikipedia page also listed Penguins star Evgeni Malkin as general manager and Penguin player (and former Maple Leaf) Phil Kessel as the Ottawa coach.

The hacks were all corrected, but the Crosby listing remained on a cached version of the listing that pops up with a Google search.
