In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.
Inspired by a spontaneous sunset gathering on Westboro Beach on the day Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot and killed at the National War Memorial, amateur photographer Nancy Mooney has returned to the beach each day for more than 700 days to take a photo of the sunset. She posts one a day on Twitter (@NancyfromCanada) and Instagram (@nancyfromottawa), no matter the weather.
