Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect involved in a May 16 drug store robbery.

According to police, around 7:10 p.m., a man entered a drug store near the corner of Bank and Albert streets in downtown Ottawa. He lined up at a cashier multiple times, but each time he got near the front of the line, he exited and returned to the back, police said.

After doing this several times, the man eventually reached the cashier and allegedly produced a note demanding cash. The man indicated he was armed even though no weapon was seen, police said. He was handed cash by the store attendant before fleeing the premises. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described a man with a darker complexion, standing approximately 5-1, with a stocky build and black hair. He was last seen wearing sunglasses, a grey button-up short sleeve shirt, beige pants and dress shoes.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
