A fire in a cupboard has displaced an Augusta Street apartment tenant and racked up a tab of $15,000.
Ottawa Fire Services called to the Lowertown highrise during Wednesday’s dinner hour were met by residents who reported smoke coming from the third floor at 161 Augusta St.
Firefighters forced their way into the unit, found the fire in a cupboard, and had it extinguished in minutes.
The resident was not home at the time.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
