In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the Citizen is rolling out one fact each day for 150 days until July 1, highlighting the odd, the fascinating and the important bits of Ottawa history you might not know about.

Countless numbers have chased the dream, but not until Brad Fritsch teed it up at the 2013 Sony Open in Hawaii had an Ottawa golfer played a PGA event as a full-time, card-carrying member of the Tour. Now 39, Fritsch has regained his status by earning $194,857 on the Web.com Tour in 2016.

Meanwhile, Brooke Henderson became the first full-time member of the LPGA Tour from Ottawa in 2015, when she was the loop’s rookie of the year. At the beginning of 2017, the 19-year old was ranked No. 3 in the world and had already amassed career earnings of close to $2 million.
