Busy night for fire crews in Gatineau

Firefighters in Gatineau responded to two serious fires in homes overnight which caused more than $275,000 in damages and left six people displaced.

The first blaze was reported around 10:42 p.m. on Tuesday at 1751 Parisien St., just off Maloney Boulevard East.

When crews arrived they found flames raging throughout the residence and immediately launch an aggressive attack on the blaze. The blaze was declared under control by 11:56 p.m.

Damage to the property is estimated at $95,000 and one person has been displaced as a result of the fire.

The second fire was reported at 12:31 a.m. on Wednesday at 720 Davidson St. E., which is just south of Highway 50.

The fire began in a semi-detached home, but quickly spread to the adjoining unit, and then a third.

Residents fled the homes and no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.

It took firefighters until about 3 a.m. to get the fire under control.

Damage to the properties is estimated at more than $260,000 and five people have been displaced.

There were no injuries in either fire.
