Ottawa fire dispatch reported a house fire in Kanata on Sunday, caused by a lightning strike.
At about 5 p.m. the fire department received a 911 call from a neighbour that lightning had struck a house on Evanshen Crescent and that smoke was visible.
The residents of the two-story home were away at the time.
The fire, which was quickly brought under control, was contained to the eaves and part of the attic. Damage was estimated at $60,000. There were no injuries.
