The Ottawa Police Major Crime Unit is investigating after a man was shot and killed during the early hours of the morning.
Local patrol officers responded to a call about a shooting in Lowertown around 1:00 a.m.
A male victim was found near the intersection of Rideau street and Augusta street.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rideau is closed to traffic between Augusta and Chapel street while police investigate the incident.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Ottawa Police’s Major Crime Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.
