OPP say the body found on the shoulder of Highway 417 on Sunday is that of a 34-year-old Ottawa woman.
Police said Monday that that woman had been struck by a passing vehicle.
The body was found near the Rockdale Road interchange, about 30 km east of Ottawa, by a motorist at around 2:30 p.m. to a call about human remains found 30 kilometres east of Ottawa.
The Russell County OPP crime unit was continuing with the investigation, the OPP said in a news release.
