A 55-year-old woman from Texas died Tuesday after she was thrown from her kayak on an excursion in the Whitewater Region Township along the Ottawa River.
Emergency crews were called at about 10 a.m. after a caller reported the woman had been pulled from the water after being ejected from her kayak while being caught in rapids.
Paramedics attempted CPR on the woman and she was transported to the hospital where she later died.
The woman was staying at Wilderness Tours with a group at the time of the incident.
The victim’s identity has not been released as police are notifying the next of kin.
Police will be investigating the death however they do not suspect foul play. An autopsy will be performed to find the cause of death.
