[问题] About application of a visa to re-enter Canada

Hi friends,

I am now in Canada with a Work Permit Visa, which is a single entry visa. I know if I make a trip back to Beijing, I need to apply for another visa for reentering Canada.

I just made a call to CIC, and was told that it will not be 100 percent sure for me to get such visa from Beijing Emassy during my stay there. The best thing they recommended to do is to apply one before my trip from any Canadian Consulates in US. But they don't know how long will the application take.

Is there anyone who have any experience in applying such visa from US or China? Could you please give me some idea about that application? How long will it take? Can it be done in two or three weeks? Is it really difficult to get one from Beijing Embassy? I have even booked the plane ticket preparing for that trip until I got such problem. I am desperate for the answers. Thank you in advance for your help.

麻烦，但问题不大。Visa和Work Permit是两个东西。如果你的visa是多次的，你就不用再签了。但Work Permit是单次的就必须重办。

Yes, I hope I could. But I did not remember if I had any choice to apply for the multiple entry visa before I came for the first time. Only thing I got is that single entry visa. Now I am wondering if it is still possible to make a trip back to Bejing.

To my knowledge, Work Permit is a kind of Visa. There are three kinds of visa for a foreigner to go to Canada: temporary resident visa, work permit and study permit. The another visa I may apply for reentering Canada should be temporary resident visa.

What kind of visa do I need to go to Canada?

The answer depends on your intentions. If you plan to be in Canada only for a short period of time to conduct business or visit, you should apply for a visitor visa. If you plan to study or work, you should apply for a study permit or an work permit. If you would like to settle permanently in Canada, you must submit an application for immigration.

这里是说除了visitor visa之外，你study or work时还需要有a study permit or an work permit。

I have thought so as you before, but after I went through the application process and stayed in Canada for one year with nothing but a Work Permit, I know Work Permit is just a kind of visa, the same thing as H-1B visa in US. Thanks.

WORK PERMIT是你在加拿大的合法身份,Temporary Resident Visa是用于出入境的．你可以去ＢＵＦＦＡＬＯ申请ＶＩＳＡ，很快．正常情况下一周内应该可以办完（不包括邮寄时间）．你可以到ＣＩＣ的ＷＥＢＳＩＴＥ查需要什么材料．请注意交费一定要按ＣＩＣ指定的方法交，不然他们会不受理你的申请．
