The Ontario provincial police have identified the victim in a car crash on Highway 401 near Mallorytown on Friday.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was 85-year-old Edna Winch of Richmond Hill. According to police, the vehicle Winch was driving unexpectedly left the roadway, crossed the centre median and ended up heading into oncoming traffic on the highway. Her vehicle was hit by an eastbound tractor trailer.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police still have not disclosed the cause of the collision. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
