Police have charged a 34-year-old Quinte West man with impaired driving after his truck collided with a school bus full of students en route to swimming lessons Tuesday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police said the crash occurred on Highway 41 just south of Bon Echo Park,about two hours from Ottawa. The collision sent the black Ford pickup into the ditch on its side.
The bus driver and children were not injured.
The truck driver, Michael MacLellan, had minor injuries. He was arrested at the scene.
MacLellan has been charged with driving a vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol in his blood and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was released on a promise to appear at Napanee’s Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 8.
