A 33-year-old Ottawa man face criminal and stunt-driving charges after a motorist was caught driving 200 km/h on Highway 401 on Monday.
A Napanee OPP detachment news release said officers received a call at about 10:25 p.m. about a vehicle travelling in excess of 200 kilometres per hour and weaving in and out of traffic. Police stopped an eastbound Dodge Durango in Tyendinaga Township, which is east of Belleville.
The man has been charged with dangerous driving — a Criminal Code offence — and stunt driving contrary, under the provincial Highway Traffic Act. His vehicle was seized for seven days and his licence was suspended.
The man, whose name was not released, is to appear in court in Napanee on Oct. 17.
