A 16-year-old Belleville boy faces charges including manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed a 30-year-old Loyalist Township woman on Sunday.
Emergency crews were called early Sunday to a head-on crash on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Cannifton Road between a Subaru and a pickup truck being driven westbound in the eastbound lanes.
The victim, a passenger in the Subaru, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released.
The driver of the car, a 30-year-old man from Dryden, remains in hospital in serious condition.
The teen driving the pickup was taken to hospital in Kingston with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accused, who can not been identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged by with manslaughter, criminal negligence cause bodily harm and theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000.
He was to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Friday for a bail hearing.
