Ten people were displaced following a stubborn fire early Tuesday in a multi-unit building at 61 Charpentier St. in Gatineau.
Gatineau fire service reports they were called to the three-unit building shortly after midnight and found flames had taken hold in a back balcony, spreading towards the roof.
The two dozen firefighters had the blaze under control within 20 minutes, but not before 10 people were forced to leave their homes.
They have been taken into care by the Red Cross for the moment.
Two people suffered minor smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for consultation.
Damages are estimated at $150,000. There was no immediate indication of the cause of the fire.
