Ottawa police called in extra officers and the canine unit to Old Ottawa South Tuesday morning in a search for a suspect in an unspecified case.
Police arrived on the scene at about 9 a.m.
They asked residents on Bellwood Avenue and Cameron Avenue between Riverdale and Bank to go into their houses and stay off street.
At one point, an officer told a Bellwood resident to get off the sidewalk and go back inside their house.
“You are contaminating a canine track,” the officer said.
The police search seems to be focused on area around Hillary’s dry cleaner on Bank and the townhouses across the street on Cameron.
“The suspect got away so we are just searching,” said a police officer, who did not say why the suspect was sought.
