Join Mayor Jim Watson as he presides over a joint exercising of Freedom of the City, honouring the 18 military and three cadet units who have been granted the recognition by the City of Ottawa.
The granting of Freedom of the City by a municipality is one of the most esteemed honours to bestow on a military unit. This designation allows the unit to, “march through the streets with drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed.”
