The autumnal heatwave is evaporating Wednesday – perhaps with the bang of thunder and lightning – and there’s some gorgeous autumn days in store.
Another 30 C September day is forecast for Wednesday but the clouds are expected to roll in, bringing a 60-per-cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm for the afternoon and early evening.
It’s expected to clear up overnight with a low of just 10 C.
Some rain would be welcome given that it’s been more than two weeks since most of us have felt a drop.
Yesterday was #Ottawa's 17th consecutive September day with no precip which put 2017-09-09?25 in 1st place for the longest run. #OttWx pic.twitter.com/AiTVaWe41A

Twitter user Diane Sawchuk’s photo of sunrise Wednesday seems to have a hint of red. Sailor’s warning, anyone? The forecast definitely predicts cooler temperatures on the way.

For Thursday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and temperatures that might feel cool but are actually spot-on seasonal for the end of September: a high of 17 C and low of 5 C.
More of the same is on tap for Friday with a high of 15 C and low of 3 C.
Officially asked the #bearded #snowman for some winter weather. #winteriscoming hopefully. #ottweather pic.twitter.com/4RihZXFd1F

The good weather holds through the beginning of the week with a mix of sun and cloud and highs of 19 C and 20 C forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
