Ottawa firefighters took no chances when tackling an early morning fire Thursday in a detached garage used as a music group’s storage and rehearsal spot.
Responders issued a second alarm on the blaze at 143 Marier St. shortly before 3 a.m. because the garage was less than one foot from a second garage that had apartments upstairs.
The fire was brought under control within about 15 minutes.
There were no injuries but firefighters were unable to save an estimated $50,000 worth of musical gear.
A fire investigator is on the scene, but the cause has not been determined.
