One person is dead after a fire in a Gatineau apartment Thursday night.
The fire broke out at about 6:30 p.m. in a second-floor apartment of a five-storey apartment building at 260 rue Mutchmore, near boulevard du Mont-Bleu and Autoroute 50.
It took Gatineau firefighters about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. Firefighters found the body when they entered the apartment.
About 150 residents were forced out of the building by the fire. All but one resident were able to return to their apartments later Thursday night.
Gatineau police are investigating the death. Police hadn’t determined the identity of the victim as of Thursday night.
