The Museum of Nature opened the doors to its private warehouse in Gatineau on Saturday, offering a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of some of the most unusual objects in the museum’s collection — and meet the people who work with them.
The event, held every year in a warehouse the size of five hockey ricks, aims at pulling back the curtain on the rarest of the more than 14.6 million artifacts in the museum’s collection, including many that don’t make it on display on a regular basis.
Among the highlights at the facility at 1740 Pink Road in Gatineau: minerals, meteorites, dinosaur bones and Ice Age mammals, a wall of antlers as well as collections of parasites, crustaceans, mussels and insects.
The free event runs until 4 pm Saturday. Tours are self-guided and parking is free.
