A blaze that began in the basement of a split-level house in the city’s west end Thursday morning has been brought under control.
The homeowners called 911 at 8:51 a.m. and firefighters declared a working fire on arrival. The couple was able to safely escape their home on Gold Crescent near Queensview Drive.
The fire department is asking motorists to avoid Gold Crescent, Moncton Road and Kelly Avenue in the area south of Frank Ryan Park.
