Firefighters freed and extricated a seriously injured woman whose car flipped into a ditch in the city’s south end Friday.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Greenbank Road near Prince of Wales Drive by police shortly after 10 a.m.

The victim was still hanging from her seatbelt in the vehicle, which was upside-down in the ditch.

Firefighters were able to free her and safely remove her from the vehicle by about 10:16 a.m.

She was transferred to a backboard for the trip to the hospital from the scene.
