A 15-year-old Brockville boy is facing a mischief charge after allegedly dropping a beverage over a Highway 401 overpass Monday afternoon, striking a westbound transport.
The truck’s moonroof was damaged but the result could have been tragic, Insp. Mike Francis warned.
“To propel an item off of an overpass onto a vehicle traveling 100 km/hr can result in an absolute deadly and catastrophic outcome,” the Leeds County OPP detachment commander said. “This is a stark reminder that we need to impress upon all of our young people that actions have consequences.”
Police tracked down the youth after the incident at the Stewart Boulevard overpass, which was reported at 1:35 p.m., and charged him with mischief under $5,000.
He’ll appear in youth court in Brockville.
