A Kanata man has been charged with possession of child pornography after police executed a search warrant at his home Thursday.
Ottawa police were acting on a tip from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, which had received information from the U.S.-based National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.
The report indicated that an IP address in the Ottawa area had been used to upload an image of child pornography.
The Ottawa police obtained a production order that identified the address associated with the upload, and a search warrant was executed Thursday in the Beaverbrook area, where a digital device was seized.
Stephen McKay, 51, has been charged with possessing and accessing child pornography. He’s to appear in court Friday.
