After teaming with officers from the Gatineau, Ottawa police have announced charges against two people in relation to illicit drugs and possession of illegal firearms.
According to police, a raid was conducted at a property located at 800 Canterbury Street on Wednesday around 11 am.
The Ottawa Guns and Gangs Unit conducted the raid as a result of an ongoing investigation which was being conducted in partnership with Gatineau police officials.
Police found a loaded handgun, a large quantity of cocaine with a street value of around $70,000, ammunition and cash, inside the home.
Police have laid charges against an Ottawa man, Adam Kojo Alidu, 33, and an Ottawa woman, Gelisa Fraser, 29. The pair are facing charges including use or storage of a firearm in a careless fashion, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of Schedule I substance for trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
The two are expected to appear in an Ottawa courtroom on Thursday.
