The Ottawa police arson unit is investigating an overnight blaze at a Carlington business.
Police spotted visible smoke at 1562 Laperriere Ave. and called in firefighters at 2:04 a.m.
A gasoline can was on fire in front of the business and flames had spread to the small bungalow used as commercial premises.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming out of the front door and they quickly declared a working fire.
The fire was under control by 2:23 a.m.
Damage is estimated at $100,000. Paramedics and power and gas services were all called to the scene but no one was injured.
A fire inspector was dispatched to the fire scene, which is just north of Carlington Park, and called in the Ottawa Police Service’s arson unit.
