If we decided to move, we need to sell our house and rent or purchase another one in Ottawa, also we need to ship everything to Ottawa, did anyone have experience on that? how about the cost?

My salary will be a lot higher then my current job but it need to be waited for several years to increase to that level, so I guess for the first couple years our total income will be decrease because my wife maybe with no jobs or a lower paid job in Ottawa.
also we need to pay more for daycare

如果你现在已经在联邦政府工作，一般都有一年停薪留职的选择。甚至可以续期至3年。所以你可以选择这种方式来渥太华。转不成permanent，就会原单位好了。双行线总比单行线要好得多。

也许你刚来，这个manager就换工作了，新来的manager能保证给你permanent吗？

term一般最多两年，第三年，不是转正就是走人。当然，这两年中，你也别死心塌地的干，哪有permanent赶快转，别效忠这个经理，他们也能理解。

relocation的package一定要提前问清楚，差别很大。

how do you consider the traffic time going to work and home? living cost? house price? compare with these two cities

1. traffic time from home to work： standard is around 30 minutes （compared to 15 minutes travel in saskatoon)
2. living cost: no much difference, Ottawa might be a little higher (i have left Saskatoon many years, no idea what is cost level in SK now)
3. house price: no much difference. You may want to see it yourself on realtor.ca

I do not regret to move to Ottawa, even accepting lower salary and smaller house temporarily in the first several years.

如果剛到Ottawa，我先工作，妻子先在家帶小孩等到上幼兒園在工作，這樣的人多嗎？還是兩個同時工作小孩上daycare？這樣的話估計掙的錢都大部分給daycare了。但是如果先帶小孩幾年，就會有幾年的就業空窗期，不知道會不會影響將來找工作。
