After a weekend in the deep freeze, Ottawa will warm up and get more snow over the next few days.

But be prepared for the dreaded freezing rain to make an appearance on Tuesday in time to snarl the morning commute.

A dusting of snow Monday morning could continue throughout the day, with a high that creeps up to only -11 C and an accumulation of 2 to 4 centimetres. Expect fog patches in the evening.

The temperature is expected to rise to -7 C by Tuesday morning, according to Environment Canada.

The milder temperatures Tuesday could make the morning nasty, with a risk of freezing rain in the morning and winds gusting to 60 kilometres an hour. The snow – or freezing rain – is expected to turn to snow by noon, with an accumulation of another 2 to 4 centimetres. The high will be around 3 C on Tuesday.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for seasonable temperatures during the day with a high of -4 C, although it is expected to dip down to -16 at night.

It’s back to cooler temperatures on Thursday, with a high of only -12 C and a mix of sun and cloud.

By Friday, there could be more snow on the way, with a high of -6 C.

The long-term forecast calls for either rain or snow on Saturday and a high of -2 C.
