The Best Stories of 2017: The epic tale of Marten Hartwell’s Arctic Survival. When the newsroom was brainstorming Canada 150 feature ideas, he was shocked to hear many had forgotten, or had never heard of Marten Hartwell. He set out to re-tell the grimly epic tale, but his reporting led him deeper into the story than he expected.
