Editor’s note: As we prepare to usher in 2018, it’s important that we here in the newsroom take a moment to consider the year that was. The news cycle has a forward momentum and it’s easy — too easy — to stay focused on the here and now. It’s essential to us as an organization, as part of the community, as individuals, to look back at the moments that moved us, the stories that changed us, and the people that we will never forget.
Rideau High School students and parents were emotional about the closing of their school in 2017. A group of local seniors got together to help put together a final graduation party. To read Jacquie Miller’s Rideau High School prom timeline, click here:

Rideau High School held a prom for the last graduating class Wednesday June 28, 2017, as the school has closed the doors permanently. — 18-year-old Barbara Mouholo watched friends enter into the transformed library.
