Ottawa police were investigating a homicide Tuesday night after a young man was gunned down by a housing complex on Paul Anka Drive.
There were several reports of gun shots shortly after 8 p.m. and when police and paramedics arrived they administered CPR to a young man who was later pronounced dead.
Several teens — including friends of the victim — gathered across the street after the victim’s family called to say he had been shot.
It was not clear whether police had a suspect in custody or were hunting one down.
The police response was quick with multiple units — marked and unmarked — dispatched to the crime scene.
It’s the city’s first homicide of 2018.
