Wednesday’s winter weather is decidedly milder with a single-digit high launching a warming trend that will hang around at least into next week.

The forecast is for mainly-cloudy skies, a 40 per cent chance of morning flurries, a high of -7 C and a low of -11 C.

For once, this is actually seasonal weather for mid-January in a month where the temperature has swung from as low as just below -30 to as high as almost 12 C. So-called normals for this time of year are highs of -6 C and lows of -16 C.

And it’s getting even warmer.

Thursday’s forecast is for mainly cloudy skies, a high of -5 C and a low of -8 C with a 30 per cent chance of overnight flurries.

Friday is forecast to feature a mix of sun and cloud and balmy temperatures – a high of 0 C and low of -2 C.

For Saturday, expect clouds, a 30 per cent chance of flurries day and night, a high of 3 C and a low of -4 C.

Sunday’s forecast is for clouds, a 40 per cent chance of flurries during the day and 60 per cent chance of snow overnight, a high of -1 C and a low of -2 C.

Adding to a potentially-messy Monday morning commute is a 70 per cent chance of rain or snow. The high is a forecast 3 C and the low is -3 C.

For Tuesday, expect clouds with a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a high of -3 C.
