The winter weather warm-up continues with a high of -4 C Thursday but you ain’t seen nothing yet – the weekend promises to be slushy with temperatures forecast to hit 3 C.

Another reason to top up that windshield fluid and dig out the galoshes: the mild temperatures come with a 70 per cent chance of snow to start the new week, Environment Canada predicts.

For Thursday, expect clouds with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, southwest winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40 and a steady temperature of -4 C.

Overnight, the risk of flurries continues but winds drop off and the mercury drops to -8 C.

Friday’s forecast is for clouds, a 30 per cent chance of afternoon and nighttime flurries, a high of -1 C and a low of -2 C.

Saturday is cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, a high of 3 C and a low of 1 C.

Sunday is – you guessed it – cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries, a high of 3 C and a low of -8 C that will no doubt freeze up all that slush just in time for the Monday morning commute.

Monday’s clouds bring a 70 per cent chance of snow both day and night with a high, and low, of -2 C.

Tuesday is cloudy with a 70 per cent chance of snow or rain and a high of 1 C. Overnight, there’s a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a low of -10 C.

Wednesday is the only time the word “sun” appears in the forecast with an expected high of -6 C and a 30 per cent chance of flurries.
