A man in his 30s was shot in the leg as he stepped out of his car in Findlay Creek on Friday night.
Ottawa police say calls to 911 came in shortly after 8 p.m. after area residents heard gunfire. A witness told police two suspects were seen fleeing the scene. The incident, which occurred on Gracewood Crescent, is the city’s ninth shooting this year.
“(The victim) was in a vehicle and when he stepped out of his vehicle he was shot just outside of his vehicle,” said Ottawa police Insp. John Medeiros.
He said the man was taken to hospital but the injury did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police are asking anyone with information related to this incident to call the Ottawa police guns and gangs unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050.
