There wasn’t much these thieves wouldn’t steal.

Blankets, for instance: Thieves who broke into a series of homes in Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette and L’Ange-Gardien since last May stole blankets, and sheets too.

Also the following, as listed by MRC des Collines Police: “food, personal items, clothes (men’s and women’s), kitchen items, furniture, bedding, blankets; in brief, household items normally found in a residence. In addition to these non-conventional items, other items such as tools, computers, jewellery, money, pressure washers …

“In short, anything that could be stolen.”

More than 100 of these items have now been recovered, along with trailers (open and covered), a pickup truck and a motorcycle — the whole list adding up to a value north of $100,000.

Ottawa police arrested the key suspect, Denis Richard, 51, of Val-des-Bois. His wife, whom police haven’t named, faces lesser charges.

There may be more.

The MRC police are checking with the Sûreté du Québec who are in charge of neighbouring territory.

Anyone else who was the victim of a similar break-in is asked to call police. For residents of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette and L’Ange-Gardien, the number is 1-888-459-9911.
