Ottawa police are investigating after videos surfaced of a man punching out the rear window of what appears to be a Blue Line taxi in the ByWard Market.

Police wouldn’t provide any details about the incident. However, videos shot by witnesses and posted to social media on Sunday show that a man became upset with a taxi driver travelling ahead of him, close to the restaurant Blue Cactus on Clarence Street and the ByWard Market Square.

Several men watching from the sidewalk are shown in the videos yelling and jumping around as the driver of the car honks his horn at the cab.

The videos then show the driver exiting his vehicle and punching the cab’s back window. The punch shatters the glass.

No details about what the motive was or when the incident took place were available.

Marc Andre Way, president and chief executive of Coventry Connections, which operates Blue Line, said he is aware of the videos but wouldn’t provide any further comment on Monday.
