An arrest warrant has been requested for a 19-year-old from the national capital area after several high-end laptops were stolen at local universities.
Marcus Matamba has been charged with six counts of theft under $5,000 and six counts of breach of probation, Ottawa police said in a news release Saturday night.
The thefts took place between Jan. 11 and Feb. 9, and usually occurred in study areas while targeted students momentarily left their computers unattended, police said.
Matamba was described as standing about 5-9 (175 cm) and weighing 123 pounds (56 kg). Anyone with information on his current whereabouts was asked to call police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166 or Crime Stoppers.
