Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help in finding an alleged hit-and-run driver after a woman suffered serious injuries when she was struck on Preston Street in November.
Police circulated a photo of the suspect vehicle, a metallic brown 2009 Honda Civic 4-door with significant damage to the front end (pictured below). Police are looking for more information on the occupant, or occupants of the vehicle.
According to police, the car struck the 21-year-old woman on Nov. 20, 2017 at 2:22 p.m. at Preston and Pamilla streets, north of Carling Avenue. The woman was unconscious when paramedics arrived, and was rushed to The Ottawa Hospital’s Trauma Centre at the Civic campus with a life-threatening head injury.

Police said Tuesday the woman has remained in hospital recovering from “very serious injuries.”
The driver of the vehicle, which was travelling north on Preston, did not stop. Witnesses reported the driver turned left from Preston and onto a side street.
Debris from the vehicle’s lower bumper area was recovered at the scene, and given the debris left behind, Duty Insp. John Medeiros said he would “find it highly unlikely the person would not know” they hit a pedestrian.
Police are asking any potential witnesses to share tips by calling the Ottawa police collision investigation unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
