Ottawa police seeking assistance in identifying woman wanted in connection with thefts, fraud

Ottawa police have issued a request for public assistance in identifying a woman sought in connection with theft and fraud offences committed in a “centrally located mall” in January.

A media released distributed Saturday said the woman allegedly took shopping bags, purses or packsacks while their owners were distracted or had left belongings unattended for a few minutes. The credit cards were then used to make fraudulent purchases, police added.

The woman was described as being in her mid-thirties to mid-forties and with a medium build and dark brown, shoulder-length hair.

Anyone with information about the woman was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Services central criminal investigation unit at 613-236-1222 ext 5166.
