A police officer who was first on the scene used a fire extinguisher to douse a commercial sign that was in flames at a an Albion Road North plaza Wednesday morning.
Ottawa Fire Services reported that they were called to strip mall at the intersection of Walkley Road.
The mall contains businesses including a fast food restaurant and dollar store.
Upon arrival, they found the officer had matters in hand. The flaming sign was for a small grocery store.
Traffic remained snarled in the area for cleanup and investigation.
