A few flakes and a few of us flake out apparently.

Police were reminding motorists to clear off their cars – “Clear. All. The. Snow. Off. Your. Vehicle!!!!!,” said one – and drive for conditions amid a string of crashes, rollovers and spinouts.

Ottawa police reported nine collisions from 5 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. – and they don’t get called to every fender bender or ditched car.

Most seriously, the OPP reported just before 7 a.m. that Highway 417 westbound was entirely blocked between Carling and Maitland avenues because of a collision. The vehicles involved were cleared away by about 7:35 a.m. Provincial police had already mopped up a crash at Parkdale Avenue that blocked the right lane.

Meanwhile, OC Transpo reported that buses were not entering the Carleton University campus due to a staff labour action that’s also causing traffic tie ups near Bronson and Sunnyside avenues. ParaTranspo service would likely experience delays, the bus service said.

The good news: Ottawa Student Transportation Authority buses are running.

ALSO: Snow, snow and more snow in the forecast

Adjust your driving to road conditions. Ensure your lights are on for full visibility and #justslowdown. #otttraffic pic.twitter.com/1kMo9YLLSL
