Provincial police have seized drugs and guns in raids on several residences and a business in Alexandria, police said Thursday.
Methamphetamine pills, hydromorphone pills, fentanyl patches, marijuana and hash, a pair of hand guns, two Tasers, multiple long guns, ammunition and more than $1,500 in cash were seized in a co-ordinated operation code-named Project Redstart, police said.
Nine people have been charged with a variety of weapons and drug offences as a result of the operation, which took place on March 2, police said.
Involved in the raids were the OPP’s tactical rescue unit, its emergency response team, the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Cornwall Community Police Service and Stormont Dundas & Glengarry OPP. A canine unit was also on the scene.
Among those arrested and charged were Pierre Larose, 59, Brigitte Martinson, 49, Claude Lavigne, 53, Jonathan Carriere, 21, and Rebecca Lacombe, 40. The five, all residents of North Glengarry, were held in custody pending a bail hearing at Cornwall Court.
Luc Leroux, 52, was released and scheduled to appear in Alexandria court on April 4, along with were Christian Seguin, 34, and Gordon Hodges, 31, of North Glengarry. Also arrested and charged was Maxime Cater, 28.
