The drive home Tuesday may be a messy one with a spring storm expected to bring freezing rain in the afternoon through to Wednesday.
Environment Canada said precipitation is likely Tuesday evening, starting off as wet snow or rain until shifting into freezing rain. It is expected to stick around overnight before tapering off Wednesday morning.
There’s also a chance of snow accumulation.
“There is still some uncertainty as to the exact track of the low pressure area, which is currently expected to move right through the area Wednesday,” Environment Canada said in a special weather statement. “A small deviation in the track will easily affect how much freezing precipitation, snow, or even rain will fall.”
On top of precipitation, the agency also forecasted strong winds of up to 90 km/h to develop on Wednesday as a cold front moves into the region.
The westerly winds are expected to taper off Wednesday night. Environment Canada warned they may cause power outages or damage to buildings.
