The 19-year-old suspect in the March 24 daylight shooting of a man in the Little Italy Italy district was to appear in court Thursday after he was arrested in an operation by the guns and gangs unit Wednesday.
Yaheya Benamiar of Ottawa has been charged with attempted murder, discharge of a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, and carrying a concealed weapon.
He was also charged with possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Police did not say where Benamiar was arrested.
On March 24, police were called to a home on Anderson Street near Preston Street where they found a 35-year-old man who had been shot several times in the upper body,
He was described as being in critical condition on transport to hospital. His condition was later upgraded to stable.
The victim was not identified by police.
The firearm used in the shooting has not been recovered.
