A family of four has been displaced following an overnight fire in a semi-detached home in the South Keys area.

Firefighters were called to the residence at 1321 Fontenay Cres. just before midnight.

Responders saw that the the fire had spread to the rear of the split-level home and extended to the attic. An adjoining residence also suffered exposure damage.

A nrighbouring property on Fontenay Crescent was damaged in an overnight fire.


The fire was brought under control at about midnight.

Two adults and two children, aged three and four years, had safely left the building, but the home was declared not habitable.

There were no injuries but damage was estimated at $150,000 for the fire unit and $35,000 for the adjoining property.

An investigator is looking into the blaze.
